What is Comfort Watch?

Comfort Watch is about discovering + exploring

creativity in the calm: our creations in our lives, art, and businesses come to life on their own terms when we momentarily step away from the overstimulation, comparison, and expectations of the algorithms

community in the chaos: while the first step towards escaping the false drama of the internet may be ‘protecting our peace,’ prolonged individualism is isolating and may be what got us into this mess in the first place. we aren’t meant to do this alone. self-care needs to be community care. only together can we intentionally build new worlds out of digital chaos. these new worlds don’t require us to escape the internet - they may, paradoxically, even be in the world of the internet - because they were built with shared collective intention rather than the corporate intentions of advertising and sale of personal data under capitalism

comfort in the cosmos: we are part of something bigger, something that is up to each of us to decide what it is, be it spiritual or secular. we have the ability to co-create with this magic via artistic expression, personal reflection, authentic relating, witchcraft, or any number of other tools. as in community, as in the cosmos. as within, so without. as above, so below

About me:

If we haven’t met yet, hi!! I’m Caitlin Matanle, a multi-hyphenate creator and witch learning how to stop seeking validation from the internet + embrace a slower, more magical existence where I can.

I’ve been a digital entrepreneur (creator, teacher, writer, coach) for a long time now. As more and more time passes, and as I inch towards my 40th birthday in less than two short years, I find myself craving more and more time away from screen life, away from looking to the internet to tell me what I want or who I am, away from looking to my online work to make me feel worthy.

I find myself moving towards learning to flourish in my offline life, towards cultivating actual relationships (most of which began as online acquaintanceships), towards grounding myself in the real, physical world that surrounds me (and that I have always been a part of, no matter how much I dissociated from it to build an ‘online presence’).

So, the question I’ve been left with: how do I leverage the positive elements of working, creating, and connecting online with my very real desire to help people access more to themselves than their aforementioned online presences?

As a business owner, how do I connect with my clients in ways that don’t require them to attend Zoom calls when they would rather be out in the sun?

As a creator, how do I re-learn how to make art that gets my hands dirty in the physical realm?

This is what we’re all doing here, on some level, right?

I’m excited to experiment with these ideas together. Thank you for being here.
